By Lucas Apps, on May 3rd, 2013 Spring has finally shown itself here in the Carolinas, and I don’t know about you, but I’ve transitioned to my summertime carry rig. Over the winter I carried my Glock 19 in either my Crossbreed Supertuck, or the DeSantis Thumbreak Scabbard (that I cut the thumbreak off of). Both of these rigs work great in the winter, but when spring arrives, I want to walk around in flip flops and board shorts and I don’t really like worrying about wearing a sturdy belt all the time.
I’ve transitioned to my Kel-Tec PF-9 in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I’m not really a huge fan of the Kel-Tec, but it’s proven itself to be reliable and accurate, even with it’s god awful trigger, and pot metal slide. I’m holding out for the Springfield XDS 9mm to start hitting stores, and once I get one it will become my primary summertime [...]
By Lucas Apps, on March 25th, 2012 Since December 2010, I have been carrying either a Glock 19, or a Glock 26 in a Crossbreed Supertuck Deluxe every day. I purchased this holster after purchasing two knockoffs of the Crossbreed design. After using the knockoffs for a while, I determined that the design was great, but the execution of the knockoffs wasn’t as nice as the Crossbreed, so I went ahead and made the purchase. As with most things, I would have been better off just buying the Crossbreed to begin with…
Overview:
The Crossbreed Supertuck is a leather/kydex hybrid holster, with a piece of molded kydex riveted to a large piece of leather that sits against the body of the person wearing the holster. At first glance, they look like they would be uncomfortable, however when you think about how the holster works, using the leather to spread out the profile of the pistol, you will [...]
By Lucas Apps, on March 11th, 2012 In this post, I want to cover some points on concealed carry. With 49 states now allowing some form of concealed carry for citizens, and more and more passing “shall issue” laws every year, concealed carry of firearms has swept the nation. Americans are no longer allowing themselves to be victimized, and are instead standing their ground, and defending themselves from those who wish to do them harm.
I’ve been carrying a concealed handgun for several years now, and I have learned several lessons along the way. What I carry, and how I carry it has evolved many times as well. I try to be diligent in carrying a pistol whenever I can, and wherever it is legal to do so. This morning, I strapped my holster on when I got out of bed around 9:30AM (It was Saturday, and I worked 6 days this week, don’t judge…) and it [...]
